Daan Van Cauwenberge est doctorant. Ses recherches portent sur la manière dont les partis politiques collectent, analysent et mobilisent les données. Il travaille dans une perspective poststructuraliste et s’inspire notamment des travaux de penseurs tels que Chantal Mouffe, Ernesto Laclau et Antonio Gramsci. Il a étudié la philosophie à l’Université de Gand, où il a développé un vif intérêt pour la philosophie politique moderne et contemporaine, ainsi que pour la philosophie continentale. Après l’obtention de son diplôme, il a travaillé pendant deux ans dans son alma mater en tant que chercheur scientifique, au sein d’une vaste équipe interdisciplinaire chargée d’étudier les implications éthiques, juridiques et politiques de l’intelligence artificielle dans le secteur médical. Il a ensuite travaillé comme journaliste indépendant pour la plateforme de journalisme d’investigation Apache. Ses reportages portaient sur la propagande politique (numérique), les liens de la Belgique avec l’occupation israélienne de la Palestine, ainsi que sur des formes de contrôle étatique telles que les prisons et la police.

Daan Van Cauwenberge is a PhD student. His research examines how political parties collect, analyse and deploy data. He works within a poststructuralist framework, drawing particular inspiration from thinkers such as Chantal Mouffe, Ernesto Laclau and Antonio Gramsci. He studied philosophy at the University of Ghent, where he developed a strong interest in modern and contemporary political philosophy, as well as continental philosophy. After graduating, he spent two years at his alma mater as a scientific researcher, working within a large interdisciplinary team that investigated the ethical, legal and political implications of AI in the medical sector. He later worked as a freelance journalist for the investigative journalism platform Apache. His reporting focused on (digital) political propaganda, Belgian ties to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and forms of state control such as prisons and policing.
