Jan Zienkowski est titulaire d’une chaire de communication stratégique au département des sciences de l’information et de la communication de l’Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Il donne des cours sur des sujets tels que la communication internationale, organisationnelle et institutionnelle. Il est membre de ReSIC, Centre de Recherche en Information et Communication de l’ULB.
Intéressé par le domaine transdisciplinaire des études de discours, Jan a publié Articulations of self and politics in activist discourse (Zienkowski 2017) et coédité Imagining the peoples of Europe (Zienkowski et Breeze 2019). Ses livres et articles portent sur les questions de réflexivité, de critique, de discours, de politique et de métapolitique, ainsi que de propagande, d‘idéologie et d’hégémonie, telles qu’elles s’articulent dans les débats à grande échelle sur la migration, le populisme et le néolibéralisme. Jan Zienkowski vise à réarticuler les approches linguistiques pragmatiques, critiques et poststructuralistes de la signification afin de comprendre comment les êtres humains font face à l’hégémonie à des degrés divers de conscience. Il a une formation en sciences de la communication, en relations internationales et en linguistique.
Il est chercheur associé d’Engage: Research Centre for Publicness in Contemporary Communication de l’Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles. Il est également chercheur associé de l’ILC (Institut Langage et Communication / UCLouvain) / Social Media Lab.
Jan Zienkowski a organisé plusieurs événements DiscourseNet et est membre du conseil d’administration de DiscourseNet. Il est membre de DESIRE (Centre for Democracy, Signification and Resistance).

Jan Zienkowski holds a chair in Strategic Communication at the Department of Information and Communication Science of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He teaches courses on subjects such as international, organizational and institutional communication. He is a member of ReSIC, Centre de Recherche en Information et Communication of the ULB.
Jan has a long-standing research interest in the transdisciplinary field of discourse studies. He published Articulations of self and politics in activist discourse (Zienkowski 2017) and co-edited Imagining the peoples of Europe (Zienkowski and Breeze 2019). His books and articles focus on issues of reflexivity, critique, discourse, politics and metapolitics and propaganda, ideology and hegemony as articulated in large-scale debates on migration, populism and neoliberalism. Jan Zienkowski aims to re-articulate linguistic pragmatic, critical and poststructuralist approaches to signification in order to understand how human beings deal with hegemony with varying degrees of awareness. He has a background in communication sciences, international relations and linguistics.
He is an associate researcher of Engage: Research Centre for Publicness in Contemporary Communication at the Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles. He is also an associated researcher of the ILC (Institut Langage et Communication / UCLouvain) / Social Media Lab.
Jan Zienkowski has organised various DiscourseNet events and is a member of the DiscourseNet Board. He is a member of DESIRE (Centre for Democracy, Signification and Resistance).
