Né à Petit-Goâve/Haïti, Luné Roc PIERRE LOUIS, a effectué un séjour académique au sein du centre de recherche Engage — Research Center for Publicness in Contemporary Communication, UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles, du 15 octobre au 15 novembre 2024, par le biais d’un subside du ministère de l’Économie et des Finances (www.mef.gouv.ht). Il décrocha son doctorat en information et communication de l’Université Catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve) en janvier 2012 et détient également un master en Humanités – Lettres – Langues – Civilisation francophones de l’Université des Antilles (ex-Univ. Antilles-Guyane). Lisant le grec classique et détenant une assez bonne connaissance du latin, il utilise au besoin, en plus des deux langues officielles de son pays (français et créole), l’anglais, l’espagnol, l’allemand et l’italien. Depuis octobre 2012, il exerce son professorat au Département de communication de la Faculté des Sciences Humaines de l’Université d’État d’Haïti. En cette dizaine d’années, il a dirigé une vingtaine de mémoires et tient notamment des cours de Méthodologie, Épistémologie, Atelier de mémoire, Théories de la communication, Linguistique et communication, Sémiologie, Communication et Éthique, Communication politique. Chercheur indépendant, il compte à son actif une dizaine de publications. Ses recherches portent sur trois grands axes :
- Communication politique et média, où il essaie de comprendre les enjeux entre société, politique et médias à travers des thèmes comme l’espace public, la société civile, la légitimation et la démocratie ; le populisme – en ce compris le médiapopulisme et le folklorisme médiatique – et le bonapartisme ; les médias et les partis politiques ;
- Philosophie de la communication, où il s’intéresse particulièrement à la question de la reconnaissance, au rapport entre (l’expérience de) la communication et la question morale, à la pragmatique universelle et fondamentale, à la compréhension du monde et aux formes de l’identité ;
- Épistémologie, où il s’investit dans la sédimentation de l’heuristique de la communication (son concept), dans la question de l’herméneutique et s’engage dans la controverse expliquer-comprendre dite controverse centrale des sciences sociales.

Born in Petit-Goâve/Haiti, Luné Roc PIERRE LOUIS spent an academic stay at Engage—Research Center for Publicness in Contemporary Communication, UCLouvain Saint-Louis Brussels, from October 15 to November 15, 2024, through a grant from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (www.mef.gouv.ht), obtained his PhD in Information and Communication from the Catholic University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve) in January 2012 and also holds a Master’s Degree in Humanities — Letters — Languages — Francophone Civilization from the University of the Antilles (formerly Université Antilles-Guyane). Reading classical Greek and having a fairly good knowledge of Latin, he uses them as needed, in addition to the two official languages of his country (French and Creole), English, Spanish, German, and Italian. Since October 2012, he has been a Professor in the Department of Communication at the Faculty of Humanities at the State University of Haiti. During this decade, he has directed about twenty thesis (licence degree) and teaches Methodology, Epistemology, Thesis Workshop, Theories of communication, Linguistics and communication, Semiology, Communication and Ethics, Political Communication. As an independent researcher, he published more than ten papers. His research focuses on three main areas:
• Political communication and media, where he tries to understand the issues between society, politics and media through themes such as Public Space, Civil Society, Legitimation and Democracy; Populism, including Mediapopulism and Media folkloric —and Bonapartism; Media and Political parties;
• Philosophy of communication where he is particularly interested in recognition, the relationship between (experience of) communication and moral issues, universal and fundamental pragmatics, world understanding, and forms of identity;
• Epistemology where he is involved in the sedimentation of communication heuristics (its concept), in the question of hermeneutics, and engages in explain-understand controversy called central controversy of social sciences.
