Sylvain Malcorps est docteur en Information et Communication de l’Université libre de Bruxelles. Ses principaux intérêts de recherche portent sur l’étude des objets, des pratiques et des discours mobilisés dans la gestion contemporaine des organisations médiatiques et culturelles. En particulier, il s’intéresse à comprendre la place de ces éléments dans la carrière de problèmes publics et sociaux. Ses travaux l’ont conduit à explorer une variété de phénomènes tels que, la commercialisation en ligne des biens médiatiques et culturels, le cyberharcèlement des travailleurs médiatiques, la censure publique des journalistes ou les violences en contexte de travail. Il a également été chercheur invité au sein de la section « Management and Organisation » de l’Université de Göteborg (Suède).
Au sein d’Engage, Sylvain Malcorps est chercheur postdoctoral chargé de la conduite du projet Alg-Opinion qui étudie les relations que les jeunes entretiennent avec les algorithmes de recommandation. Il est également membre du Centre de recherche en Information et Communication de l’ULB (ReSIC) et du Laboratoire interuniversitaire des Pratiques et Identités Journalistiques (LaPIJ)

Sylvain Malcorps holds a Ph.D in Information and Communication from the Université libre de Bruxelles. His research interests include management methods in the cultural fields and the interplay between media management and the current evolution of a variety of social problems. So far, he has published papers on the commercialisation of cultural goods online, workplace violence, mob censorship and the online harassment of news workers. He was formerly visiting researcher in the section “Management and Organisation” from the Department of Business Administration at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden).
Within Engage, he is conducting the Alg-Opinion project that aims to study the influence of social network algorithms on opinion formation among youth. He is also member of the Centre de Recherche en Information et Communication from the ULB (ReSIC) and part of the Laboratoire interuniversitaire des Pratiques et Identités Journalistiques (LaPIJ) .
